Privacy

This site sets no advertising cookies, runs no third-party trackers, and has no Facebook or X integration of any kind. Everything below is the complete list.

Analytics

Visits are counted using Umami, which I run myself on my own server rather than using Google Analytics. It is cookieless. It records the page visited, the referring site, and general details like browser, operating system, device type and country. It does not store your IP address, does not build a profile of you, and cannot follow you to other websites.

Comments

Comments run on Remark42, also self-hosted on my own server. Commenting requires a verified email address, because anonymous commenting on a site like this attracts abuse.

If you comment, the system stores your email address and your IP address. Your email address is never published, never shown to other readers, and never used to market anything to you. The verification email is sent through AhaSend, which handles transactional email for my sites.

If you want your comments and the account behind them deleted, email blog@jasonboyd.scot and I will remove them.

Right of reply and corrections

If you email me about a correction or a right of reply, I keep that correspondence so there is a record of what was raised and what I did about it. If a reply is published, only what you send for publication goes up, never your contact details.

Things stored in your browser

Your theme choice (light or dark) and any articles you save are stored in your own browser using local storage. That data never reaches my server, never reaches me, and is not shared with anyone. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Hosting and server logs

The site itself is static files served by Bunny.net, which keeps standard request logs. The comment and analytics services run on my own server, hosted with Hetzner in Germany.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email blog@jasonboyd.scot. This is a personal site run by one person, so it will be me answering, and I will do it in writing.
